What goes into the soil ends up in our water, our food and our children. Every other kind of sovereignty we work on, from data to money to law, stands on land, water and air. If those are poisoned or sold off, the rest doesn't hold. This page sets out what we know, what we're building, and where we stand.
No offsets for sale. No slogans. Every figure links to its source.
Most environmental messaging asks you to feel something. We'd rather you know something, then do something about it where you live. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.
What's in our children (food and water), what's on them (the fields and parks they play on), and what's around them (the air they breathe). Here is what the measurements actually show.
people in the U.S. have PFAS ("forever chemicals") in their blood, per CDC's national biomonitoring survey. One CDC report put the figure at 97%.1,2
of U.S. tap water is estimated to contain at least one PFAS, from USGS samples taken at kitchen sinks in 716 locations.3
EPA's 2024 enforceable limit for PFOA and PFOS in drinking water, which EPA expects to cut exposure for about 100 million people.4
Where it stands: in 2025 EPA said it would keep the PFOA/PFOS limits but proposed rescinding limits for four other PFAS and allowing extensions to 2031. Those proposals weren't final when we last checked.5
of 9,832 produce and nut samples USDA tested in 2023 carried at least one detectable pesticide residue (38.8% had none). Over 99% were below EPA tolerances.6
artificial-turf samples from 17 Stockholm fields contained fluorine (blades, backing and infill), most likely fluoropolymers.7
In fairness: the same study's authors concluded this fluorine "does not pose an imminent risk to users." Their concern is how turf is made, how it's disposed of, and the microplastics it sheds. Know the difference before you go to the school board.7
higher risk of heart attack, stroke or death over about three years in patients with micro- and nanoplastics found in their artery plaque (NEJM, 2024; 257 patients).8
This is an observational study. It shows a link, not proof of cause.
people in the U.S. (46%) live where the air earned a failing grade for ozone or particle pollution in the American Lung Association's 2025 report.9
people live in counties where neither ozone nor particle pollution is monitored at all. Only 922 of 3,221 U.S. counties monitor at least one of those pollutants.9
made the "cleanest" list on all three pollution measures in 2025: Bangor, Maine and San Juan, Puerto Rico.9

Grandparents often have three things that busy parents don't: time, a stake that's as personal as it gets, and the capital and connections to make a county commission, water utility or school board take them seriously.
The Grandparent Renaissance is in development and hasn't launched. Tell us you're interested and we'll let you know when it does. Nothing else.

A country's forests, reefs, fisheries and farmland are assets. When they're measured and owned, they can back real financial deals. When they aren't, they get traded away cheaply. Small island nations are showing how it works.
of the total wealth of low-income countries was renewable natural capital (forests, mangroves, fisheries, farmland, protected areas) in 2018, per the World Bank.11
countries had compiled UN SEEA natural-capital accounts within the past five years as of the 2024 UN global assessment. 67 publish them on a regular schedule.12
of Ecuador's bonds swapped for a $656M loan in the 2023 Galápagos deal, with over $450M for conservation.16
| Country | Deal | The numbers | What nature got |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seychelles | World's first ocean debt conversion (with The Nature Conservancy) | $21.6M of foreign debt converted into in-country conservation finance13 | Marine protection went from 0.04% to 30% of its waters: 410,000 km², an area larger than Germany (completed 2020)13 |
| Seychelles | World's first sovereign blue bond (2018) | US$15M raised from international investors14 | Marine protected areas, fisheries governance and blue-economy grants and loans14 |
| Belize | Blue bond debt conversion (2021) | Bought back its $553M "Superbond" at a 45% discount with a $364M blue loan, cutting debt by 12% of GDP15 | About $180M for conservation over 20 years and a commitment to protect 30% of its ocean15 |
| Barbados | World's first debt-for-climate-resilience swap (2024) | Backed by $300M in IDB and EIB guarantees, generating $125M in fiscal savings17 | Water reclamation and sewer upgrades designed to cut pollution reaching reefs and groundwater17 |
| Ecuador (Galápagos) | Largest debt conversion for marine conservation (as of 2023) | $1.628B of bonds exchanged for a $656M loan16 | More than $450M for Galápagos marine conservation over about 18.5 years, including an endowment16 |
Ecuador isn't a small island state, but the Galápagos deal uses the same playbook. These deals tie debt relief to conservation commitments. In Barbados, if the reclaimed-water targets are missed, the government pays a financial penalty into an environmental trust.17 They're not free money, and that's the point: the asset has to be real.
Nations that account for their natural capital, owning the data, the maps and the valuation, sit on their side of the table when creditors, investors and buyers arrive. Nations that don't end up negotiating with someone else's numbers.
SovereignOS is built to help governments and communities take control of their data, money and law. Natural capital is the same job, with the asset under your feet.
Natural capital: Glen Mhòr, Alladale. Photo courtesy of AlladaleAlladale is a former Victorian sporting estate in the Scottish Highlands, about an hour's drive north of Inverness. Since Paul Lister bought it in 2003, it has been run on one idea: leave the land in better condition than you found it.18,19

Scotland's wild population was until recently thought to be only about 150 animals. Alladale built breeding enclosures for the national Saving Wildcats programme led by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, and kittens bred there went to the Kincraig breed-and-release centre to widen the gene pool.20
The programme released 28 adult cats in the Cairngorms in 2023 and 2024, and more than 20 kittens have since been born in the wild.20 Alladale also satellite-tracks young golden eagles bred on the reserve.20
Trees hold soil and slow floods. Wet peat stores carbon instead of leaking it, and Alladale notes that drained UK peatlands emit about 10 million tonnes of carbon a year.20 Returning species bring back the checks and balances of a working ecosystem.
None of it happens in a funding cycle. It happens because someone owned the land, had a long view and kept going. That is sovereignty applied to nature.
SovereignOS hosts very private, high-end retreats at Alladale Wilderness Reserve for families, companies and governments who want to work through everything SovereignOS does, from the Hearth to the Charter to natural capital, in a place where the results of long-term thinking are visible out the window.
Multiple generations around one table: family governance, data and money sovereignty, and what you want to hand down, land included.
Leadership teams working through data, contracts and enterprise sovereignty away from screens, with time on the hill to think straight.
Ministers and officials on digital sovereignty, natural-capital accounting and how island and coastal nations have turned nature into negotiating power.

Dates, group size and pricing are tailored to each enquiry.

Private retreats at Alladale Wilderness Reserve are offered by request only, for families and governments. Space is limited. Every request is reviewed personally and we'll reply by email.
Each retreat runs 5 nights, with 4 days of courses at 5 hours a day. Extra stays at Alladale can be added.
SovereignOS is built for nations, states, cities, communities and families. Hearth & Charter, our consumer product, covers nine layers of personal sovereignty. Sovereignty of Nature sits underneath all of them, because every layer depends on clean water, healthy soil and land someone actually stewards.
Whether you're a grandparent, a CEO or a minister, the first step is the same: measure, then act.
